Mark Dyer Will Join IMG This Week
As Senior VP/Strategic Planning
SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Michael Smith reports former Motorsports Authentics President & CEO MARK DYER this week will join IMG as Senior VP/Strategic Planning & Development, which will "put him on the forefront of IMG's new business opportunities, especially in the college space." The IMG position was "created just for him." Dyer will work out of Charlotte and report to IMG Sports & Entertainment President GEORGE PYNE, as well as IMG College Senior Corporate VP PAT BATTLE. Pyne: "We're constantly looking at new ideas, new lines of business. Where I see Mark fitting in is evaluating those new business opportunities, like getting into the college marketplace, a decision we made about 21 months ago." Smith notes Dyer in '97 launched the first NASCAR Cafe, and he later served as NASCAR VP/Licensing & Consumer Products (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 3/23 issue).

EXECS: Investment firm Seymour Pierce Chair KEITH HARRIS has signed on as a Board Member for Treble Sports, a joint venture between Treble Group Int'l and Bloom Sports, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based property developer Bloom Properties, which will work with both rights holders and sponsors to develop and manage events in sports, entertainment and culture (KHALEEJ TIMES, 3/18)....England's Football Association Chair LORD DAVID TRIESMAN named EPL Chair SIR DAVE RICHARDS one of three Deputy Chairs for England's bid to host the '18 World Cup, in an attempt to "quell fears that political infighting could damage its chances." Richards will have a "specific responsibility for international relations." Football League Chair LORD BRIAN MAWHINNEY and EPL club Manchester United CEO DAVID GILL will serve as the other two Deputy Chairs (Manchester GUARDIAN, 3/20).
