Globetrotters Play Game On
Wachovia Spectrum Roof
In Philadelphia, Sam Donnellon notes the Globetrotters Thursday played a game "on top of the Wachovia Spectrum" to pay tribute to the soon-to-close venue, and Comcast-Spectacor Dir of PR Eric Nemeth "continually assured ... the roof was safe." Engineers had "checked it out, precautions had been taken, including dividing the media into three groups, each taking its turn up top watching an abbreviated matchup between the Globetrotters and the Generals" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 3/6).

COLOR SCHEME: In Boston, Chris Reidy reported TD Banknorth Garden "can now be fully illuminated with team colors at night -- leprechaun green for Celtics home games and Bruins gold." And when the Celtics or Bruins win a home game at night, the new exterior lighting system "has the capacity to celebrate that victory by creating a special wave effect." Arena officials said that for an upcoming Fleetwood Mac concert, the exterior will be "lit up with a tie-dye color scheme" (BOSTON.com, 3/5).

PAVING THE WAY? In California, Ben Baeder reports delegates from 32 cities at the Regional Council of the Southern California Association of Governments Thursday "rejected a plea" by the city of Walnut to officially oppose the $800M football stadium and retail complex proposed by Majestic Realty Chair & CEO Ed Roski for neighboring City of Industry. The delegates instead "voted to take no position on the stadium issue" (SAN GABRIEL VALLEY TRIBUNE, 3/6).
