Rockets, Avalanche Freezing Or Cutting Most Season Tickets

Rockets Are Averaging 17,345 Fans At 18,300-
Seat Toyota Center This Season
Rockets CEO Tad Brown Thursday said that season-ticket prices will be "frozen or reduced for 98[%] of tickets" for the '09-10 season due to the "impact of the recession," according to Jonathan Feigen of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Brown said that prices for more than 20% of tickets currently selling for between $22 and $200, with "most in the $40 to $200 range," will be reduced, with "some prices cut by roughly" 20%. Brown: "We're all going through a tough time right now. [Rockets Owner Leslie Alexander] recognizes that. He wants to make it as easy as possible to enjoy the Rockets experience." Feigen notes 2% of tickets will have price increases, but those are the "most expensive tickets in the building currently sold to suite holders or corporate partners, and all have a waiting list." Rockets attendance is "up slightly this season to an average" of 17,345 at the 18,300-seat Toyota Center. The Rockets last season averaged 17,259 fans through 31 home dates (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 3/6).

COLD CUTS: In Denver, Adrian Dater reports the Avalanche are "one of what could become many NHL teams that are slashing some season-ticket prices for next season." The team "will not increase prices for any seat next season and is offering some lower-bowl seats at the Pepsi Center for as little as" $24.63 per game for the '09-10 season. The Avalanche also will "allow season-ticket holders to pay in 10 monthly installments." Season-ticket holders who renew by Monday's deadline also will receive "other perks such as getting their names inscribed on bricks in front of the arena, first dibs to tickets to certain concerts and a private 'Meet the Team' party" (DENVER POST, 3/6).
