Cowboys Draw Ticket Buyers For New Stadium From Nearby County

Jones Believes New Cowboys Stadium Will Sell
125,000 Tickets For Super Bowl XLV In '11
Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones last week said that the Cowboys have "sold 273 of the approximate 300 suites at the new stadium as well as 85[%] of the tickets," according to Todd Archer of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Jones: "We're approaching 40[%] of our fans from Tarrant County," where the new stadium is being built. Jones said, "The Rangers are 50-50, Dallas and Tarrant [Counties]. ... At Texas Stadium [in Dallas County], it was less than about 6 or 7[%]" of Cowboys ticket buyers from Tarrant County. The Cowboys' new stadium is set to host Super Bowl XLV in '11 and Jones said, "Conceptually, I believe we'll sell 125,000 tickets for the Super Bowl." Archer notes to get record attendance for a Super Bowl, the Cowboys "would have to reconfigure the new stadium, which will have 80,000 seats in place." Jones said that because the seats "sit on rails, an additional 10,000 could be added by removing the arm rests." Jones also "sees the potential to add seating on scaffolding in the open end zones as well as club areas on the three levels of platforms" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 2/24).
