Revolution Unveil New Marketing Plan To Attract Adult Fans

MLS Revolution officials have "tweaked their preseason marketing pitch in a bid to boost interest from a potential fan base that's feeling the economic pinch," according to Thomas Grillo of the BOSTON HERALD. A team spokesperson said that the shift "goes away from the longstanding MLS tactic of marketing to soccer-playing kids and their families, and toward a more adult-oriented, fan-driven culture." The Revolution last week began offering a $200 full-season ticket package, or $10 per game, that includes admission to "The Fort," a section in Gillette Stadium that is "reserved for the loudest and most passionate fans." The regular ticket price for seats in that section is $20 per game, while tickets for other seats in the stadium range from $20-40. In addition, the Revolution also created Revs Girls, a team of young women who "will visit soccer-friendly pubs on weekends that are packed with fans watching English soccer on TV." Meanwhile, the team "still wants to lure youngsters who participate in local soccer leagues." Revolution COO Brian Bilello said that the Revolution are "contacting city and suburban leagues with offers of reduced-priced group tickets" (BOSTON HERALD, 2/16).
