Pound To Head Play The
Game Advisory Board |
Canadian IOC member and former WADA Chair DICK POUND will head the new advisory board of Play the Game, a Denmark-based sports communication organization. Pound will assist the organization with its “aim to strengthen the basic ethical values of sport and encourage democracy, transparency and freedom of expression in world sport” (CP, 2/11).

EXECS: FSN hired CHRIS HANNAN as Senior VP/Marketing for Fox Regional Sports Networks. Hannan had spent the previous 11 years in the marketing and promotions department for Fox Sports and FSN (John Ourand, THE DAILY)....NASCAR named THOMAS GIDEON Dir of Safety Initiatives, replacing STEVE PETERSON, “who died last year after having spearheaded a number of key NASCAR safety initiatives.” From ’97-08, Gideon was Safety Manager for GM Racing (NASCAR)….The USTA appointed HUGO ARMANDO coach for the Player Development program in Boca Raton (MIAMI HERALD, 2/12)….RONA DANZIGER has resigned as Detroit’s WDFN-AM Program Dir “in the wake of the station’s reformulation that dropped most of its local content in favor of syndicated programming.” Danziger had been with the station since its inception as a sports talk station in ’94 and had served as Program Dir since ’02 (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 2/11)….PureSport named U.S. Gold Medal-winning swimmer BRENDAN HANSEN Dir of Training & Performance (PureSport).
