Browns Will Not Raise Ticket Prices In 2009
In Cleveland, Tony Grossi reported the Browns Thursday announced "they are holding the line on 2009 ticket prices." The Browns said that they "have the lowest ticket prices in the AFC North," and tickets range from $32-85, prices that "do not include [PSL] fees for the higher price ranges." The Browns also said that they are "offering season ticket holders a series of flexible payment options and early renewal rewards," and first-time season-ticket buyers "can also use payment options" (CLEVELAND.com, 2/12).

DEEP BLUE FREEZE: In Columbus, Aaron Portzline reports the Blue Jackets Friday "will announce a price freeze on season tickets for the 2009-10 season." The team also will announce that season-ticket holders "will have until March 13 to renew their seats for next season and/or purchase tickets for possible playoff games this spring." Blue Jackets Senior VP/Business Operations Larry Hoepfner said that "it has not been determined if single-game ticket prices will change next season" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 2/13).

BOLTING TO THE TOP: In St. Petersburg, John Romano reports "there is no doubt" Lightning GM Brian Lawton is "running the show" with the team. Lightning co-Owners Oren Koules and Len Barrie "remain involved, but Lawton's influence seems to have grown from the time he decided to fire coach Barry Melrose in mid November." Meanwhile, Koules and Barrie, after an "initial burst of energy and optimism," have "taken a lower profile." Lawton: "There's never been a formal notification. It's just evolved as we've navigated our way through this year" (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 2/13).

SILVER & BLACK MYSTIQUE: The Raiders have unveiled a logo that will commemorate the organization's 50th year of professional football during the '09 season. The logo will be used on the team's media platforms throughout the year in celebration of the franchise's history (Raiders).
