New Balance Unveils Shoe In Celebration Of 20-Year
Partnership With Susan G. Komen For The Cure
New Balance, in recognition of the 20th anniversary of its sponsorship of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, yesterday introduced a special pink edition of the New Balance 933 running shoe. The shoe will debut in August with a suggested retail price of $140, and a portion of the sales will go toward the foundation, up to $1M (New Balance). A New Balance spokesperson said that the company is "not aware of any other special-edition or cause-related women's shoe with this high a price tag" (MEDIAPOST.com, 2/3).

YOUNG GUNS: Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane and C Jonathan Toews have signed an endorsement deal with the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Chevy Dealers. Under the deal, Kane and Toews will be featured in Chevy's advertising and will participate in various themed campaigns. The partnership launches officially with the "Blackhawks Fan of the Year" online contest this month (Blackhawks).

Paraguayan Olympian Leryn Franco Will Be A 
Spokesperson For New Nike Line In Europe
ROUNDUP: USATODAY.com’s Reid Cherner cites Spanish-language Web site Latercera.com as reporting Paraguayan Olympic javelin thrower Leryn Franco “will be the new face of Nike for a clothing line coming out in February.” Franco, who finished 51st in the javelin at the Beijing Games, “will be a spokesman for the Nike campaign in Europe” (USATODAY.com, 2/4)....Lotto Sport Italia his signed Sony Ericsson WTA Tour player Anna-Lena Groenefeld to a two-year endorsement contract that covers apparel, footwear and accessories (Lotto)....UPS has hired Momentum London to handle its sponsorship business outside the U.S. (UPS).
