Marbury Expands Line-Up Of Products On Starbury.com Web Site

Marbury Expands Online Offerings Beyond
Sneakers And Clothing Line
Suspended Knicks G Stephon Marbury has opened Starbury.com, an e-commerce site in partnership with Amazon.com, and "announced an expanded line-up of products including books, CDs, DVDs, fragrances and ... a line of apparel from hip-hop artist Bow Wow due this fall," according to Wilner & Berman of the N.Y. POST. Marbury, who in ’06 inked an exclusive deal with the recently shuttered Steve & Barry’s, said, “Steve & Barry’s is over, but I survived.” Marbury’s site will continue to offer “low-priced items like $14.98 sneakers and $21.98 jeans” in addition to other brands and products. Marbury said that he “hopes to add digital music and book downloads to the site next month and, over the next several years, add up to a half-dozen flagship brick-and-mortar stores.” Marbury added that he is “looking to add budding entrepreneurs to his site.” Wilner & Berman note under the deal with Amazon, the Durham, North Carolina-based Starbury “pays the retail giant 7[%] of its revenue to cover fulfillment expenses.” The company currently is “not profitable and Marbury is financing it himself” (N.Y. POST, 1/28).
