Sony Open Hospitality Venue Made From Recycled Materials

Sony Open To Feature Hospitality Venue
Made Fron Recycled Shipping Containers
The PGA Tour Sony Open, which tees off today in Hawaii, will debut a hospitality venue constructed from recycled shipping containers. The solar-powered Greenside Lanai, located on the 9th hole of Waialae Country Club, was designed by Group 70 Int’l and constructed by Swinerton Builders, both of which are Hawaii-based green construction experts. The entire cost of the structure was footed by vendors. The Greenside Lanai was formed from two 45-foot shipping containers and will offer food and beverages served in recycled containers, as well as tutorials for fans on how to decrease environmental impact. Tickets to the hospitality area cost $50 per day, or the same as a week-long grounds pass. 141 Premiere Sports & Entertainment, which hosts the Sony and the LPGA’s SBS Open at Turtle Bay, will wheel the Greenside Lanai to the LPGA event in mid-February. It will reside the rest of the year at the Bishop Museum, Hawaii's museum of natural and cultural history, and return for the '10 Sony Open.
