Survival Mode: Packer, Knight To Host Show Around NCAA Tourney

Packer, Knight "Survive and Advance" Show
To Originate From Wynn Las Vegas
Former CBS men's college basketball analyst Billy Packer and ESPN's Bob Knight will host "Survive and Advance," a series of five one-hour TV programs analyzing the '09 NCAA men's basketball tournament. The show, which will originate from Wynn Las Vegas Race & Sports Book, is scheduled to air on FSN at 12:00am PT. The one-hour program will feature live commentary from Packer and Knight as well as guests. Packer and Knight also are teaming to develop an interactive Web platform, which will feature custom games and a Web site featuring news, analysis, blogs, video and other original content (Wynn Las Vegas). Packer yesterday said that the show "wouldn't mention gambling even though it is to be filmed" at Wynn's sports book. The programs "are expected to begin March 15," the day the field for the '09 NCAA men's tournament is announced (AP, 1/12). A source said the program is a time-buy and does not involve gambling in any way. Meanwhile, ESPN, who in November signed Knight to a expanded TV role, declined comment on his involvement in the show (THE DAILY).
