Adam "Pacman" Jones Plans Legal Action Against ESPN Over Report

Forthcoming ESPN "Outside The Lines" Report
Alleges Jones Ordered '07 Shooting In Atlanta
Former Cowboys CB Adam Jones, whom the team released yesterday, is "denying an ESPN report that he arranged for someone to shoot at three men outside a Atlanta night club" in '07, according to Calvin Watkins of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Jones said that he is "planning legal action" against ESPN over the report. Jones: "It will be a lawsuit in a week against ESPN. That's stupid. It's so stupid I have no more comments" (DALLASNEWS.com, 1/7). In Ft. Worth, Mac Engel reports ESPN yesterday informed the Cowboys and the NFL that on Sunday the net "plans to air a piece for its 'Outside the Lines' program that includes never-before-seen footage of Pacman Jones' apparent involvement in a 2007 nightclub shooting" in Atlanta. A source confirmed that when the Cowboys "learned of the report by ESPN, the team made the decision to cut Jones." The ESPN program "reportedly includes security-camera footage and allegations that Pacman Jones ordered a gang member to carry out a shooting." The Atlanta incident was "news to the NFL, which in October made it clear to Pacman Jones that one more piece of negative news would result in a lifetime ban from the league" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 1/8).

  • How could this be a new incident when it was reported in the AJC and on ESPN back when it happened in 2007 and was investigated then? ESPN is lying.
