Swing Change: Stuart Appleby Signs Multi-Year Callaway Deal

Appleby Switching To Callaway After Using
Bridgestone Clubs Entire Pro Career
Callaway has signed golfer Stuart Appleby to a multi-year deal to play its equipment and sport Callaway branding on his bag and hat. The 37-year-old Australian had played Bridgestone equipment his entire professional career. Terms were not available. Appleby is repped by Blue Giraffe’s Bobby Kreusler and is No. 38 in the official world golf rankings.

COLOMBIAN BREW: Golfer Camilo Villegas extended a number of new deals after a season in which he won the Tour Championship and jumped nearly 50 spots in the world rankings, ending the year at No. 7. His agent, IMG’s Clarke Jones, has extended expiring deals or renegotiated new contracts for two years with Red Bull, three years with J. Lindeberg and two years with Colombian brewery Bavaria. The native of Colombia also has deals with Rolex, Cobra and Cafe de Colombia.

YOUNG AMERICA: U.S. Ryder Cup member and No. 74-ranked golfer J.B. Holmes signed three-year extensions with Cobra, Titleist and Yum Brands. All three deals were set to expire in '08. The Kentucky native wore the logo of Louisville-based Yum on his left chest in '08 and this year will add the marks of its QSRs. Holmes also signed a two-year name and likeness deal with Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance. Meanwhile, No. 73-ranked golfer D.J. Trahan signed a multi-year deal with Southeastern retailer Belk to wear its logo on his left chest and appear in POS. His hat will feature a Titleist logo after he opted to not renew a ball and iron deal with Wilson. Trahan also signed a watch deal with Audemars Piguet. Both Holmes and Trahan are repped by Terry Reilly of SFX.
