CBS Hypes "Subway Postgame Show" By Bringing Jared On Air

Subway Spokesperson Jared Fogle Appeared
On CBS To Promote Two New Sandwiches
In a culmination of Subway’s year-long sponsorship of CBS’ NFL postgame show, Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle appeared in-studio yesterday for approximately 3 1/2 minutes to promote the QSR’s newest products. CBS’ James Brown introduced Fogle by saying, “We are delighted (with) the annual visit here as we present two new Subway fresh fit meals today, and there’s no better person to talk about that than Jared Fogle.” Fogle talked about two new low-fat sandwiches with either apples or baked chips as a side item and a diet soft drink. Both sandwiches were on display in the studio with “Subway” featured on the monitors. Brown: “Now, as we all try to look like (CBS’ Shannon Sharpe), you’re saying that will do the trick for us?” Fogle: “You don’t want to do 10 of them at a time, but yeah, besides that it’s great.” CBS’ Boomer Esiason mentioned the current Subway promo of $5 foot-long subs, with Fogle saying, “What more do you want in life?” Sharpe asked whether he could get a foot-long of one of the two sandwiches on display, with Fogle responding, “We can get you a foot-long, Shannon, absolutely.” Sharpe: “Just the apples.” Fogle then related his own story of losing 245 pounds by eating Subway and keeping the weight off for 10 years now, which prompted CBS’ Bill Cowher to say, “(317-pound Vikings DT) Pat Williams, listen to him.” Sharpe: “There’s hope for JB then” ("Subway Postgame Show," CBS, 1/4).
