Lynch One Of Candidates
For USOC CMO Position |
The USOC's search for a new CMO has "elicited the interest of some of the top executives in the industry," according to Tripp Mickle of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Candidates who have either "expressed interest in the job or been approached about the position" include Visa Head of Global Sponsorship Marketing Michael Lynch, UTSA Chief Business Officer Pierce O’Neil, NBA Senior VP/Marketing Partnerships Mark Tatum, former NFL Senior VP/Consumer Products & Marketing Lisa Baird and former Bobcats Exec VP & CMO Greg Economou. Sources said that former Wasserman Media Group Principal and Gatorade Senior VP/Sports Marketing Tom Fox was "considered but withdrew his name." USOC Chief Communications Officer Darryl Seibel said that the organization "isn't disclosing the names of individuals under consideration." The USOC, which is "expected to make a decision on a new CMO by the end of January," has contracted California-based search firm Bialla & Associates to manage the search (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/5 issue).
