Going Flat: Beckham, Pepsi Ending Sponsorship After 10 Years

Beckham Ends Relationship With
Pepsi To Focus On Other Deals
MLS Galaxy MF David Beckham "has decided not to renew" his $2M-per-year deal with PepsiCo, according to Robin Henry of the LONDON TIMES. Beckham had been a Pepsi endorser for 10 years, but he ended the relationship "to concentrate on his other sponsorship commitments, which include Gillette and Vodafone." Beckham said that he had "nothing but good memories of his association" with Pepsi. PepsiCo said in a statement, "Our partnership has been one of the most enduring in global brand history and David will always be part of our Pepsi family" (TIMESONLINE.co.uk, 12/27). THE SUN's Virginia Wheeler wrote the move "will please the Consumer Association, which earlier this year complained to [Beckham] that he was promoting unhealthy products to kids" (THE SUN, 12/27).
