Richardson Has Been Placed On
Heart Transplant Waiting List |
NFL Panthers Owner JERRY RICHARDSON has been "placed on a heart transplant waiting list." Richardson, who has been at Carolinas Medical Center since last week, received a pacemaker in June. NFL Senior VP/PR GREG AIELLO in a statement said, "The entire NFL team is thinking of Jerry and his family" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 12/11).
HONORS & AWARDS: The Baseball Writers' Association of America has awarded its J.G. Taylor Spink Award to former MLB Giants beat writer NICK PETERS, who will accept the honor during the Baseball HOF ceremony on July 27. The award is presented annually for "meritorious contributions to baseball writing" (S.F.
