Chicago 2016 Reorganizes, Names Lori Healey President

Chicago 2016 yesterday named LORI HEALEY, who most recently served as Chicago Mayor RICHARD DALEY's Chief of Staff, as President. Healey will oversee the bid committee's community outreach and government relations activities, Olympic Village development and implementation of legacy programs. In addition, Chicago 2016 named USOC VP/Int'l Relations BOB CTVRTLIK Vice Chair for Int'l Relations, while Chicago 2016 Vice Chair MIKE ROBERTS will take on an expanded role. Ctvrtlik will lead the bid group's outreach activities to the IOC, NOCs and int'l sporting federations, while Roberts, who is responsible for overseeing all marketing and communications activities for Chicago 2016, will assume a more active day-to-day role with the bid (Chicago 2016). CRAIN'S CHICAGO BUSINESS' John Pletz noted Healey's appointment gives Chicago 2016 Chair & CEO PATRICK RYAN "additional organizational help that some observers have said the bid effort needs as it grows heading toward the final vote." Ryan said Healey has "very strong leadership and organization skills. She's an expert in city planning and real estate development." Pletz noted Healey's appointment also "maintains City Hall's tight grip on the bid process" (CHICAGOBUSINESS.com, 12/10). Healey, who had been serving on the Chicago 2016 board, will assume her full-time role in January (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 12/11).
