MLB Properties last week named the Brewers the '08 "Club Retailer of the Year." MLB Properties said that retail sales at Miller Park have "nearly tripled since the end" of the '05 season, and the Brewers in '07 and '08 were the "No. 1 in-stadium seller of name and number T-shirts." Sales of Brewers-themed merchandise on MLB.com through November 6 were up "nearly 30% compared with the same period last year" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/28).

Red Sox Nation Membership Goes Eternal
DEATH WON'T DO US PART: In Boston, Eric Moskowitz reports Michigan-based Eternal Image has released an officially licensed Red Sox casket, which carries a suggested price of $4,499 and features the team logo "embroidered on the soft velvet of the lining and pillow." The logo also appears on the exterior of the casket, which is "made of high-gloss 18-gauge steel accented with baseball bat-style wood, tassels and polished chrome." MLB products are Eternal Image's "bestsellers," and the company last year introduced its baseball urns, which goes for $799 (BOSTON GLOBE, 12/1).

ROUNDUP: MillerCoors has hired San Antonio-based Bromley Communications to be the company's ad agency of record for "Hispanic media planning and buying." The deal is part of MillerCoors' new $400M ad effort, which includes a new ad unit called MC Media (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 11/27)....Diageo reportedly pays F1 driver Lewis Hamilton US$22.5M to wear its Johnnie Walker logo on his helmet, and Diageo CEO Paul Walsh "clearly thinks it is worth it." Walsh: "It is a lot of money but you have [400 million] people watching a two-hour Grand Prix and all the other races around the world, it's a great opportunity to promote the brand to the right demographic" (LONDON TIMES, 11/30)....adidas, which has "poured tens of millions of dollars" into swimming over the past 10 years, warned that it could "abandon competitive swimming and the race suit market if the sport does not introduce 'fair and professional' rules and approval processes" (LONDON TIMES, 11/30).
