NFL Panthers President MARK RICHARDSON and Panthers Stadium LLC President JON RICHARDSON attended last night's North Carolina Business HOF induction ceremony at which their father, Panthers Owner JERRY RICHARDSON, was inducted. Jerry Richardson could not attend because he had a pacemaker installed last week and "stayed home to continue his recovery" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 11/13).

Clothier From Attending Upcoming UFC Bout
LAW & ORDER: The AP's Ken Ritter reported Kim Couture, the wife of UFC fighter Randy Couture, "obtained a court order Wednesday banning" California-based Affliction Inc. clothing company part-Owner Todd Beard "from approaching her or attending an upcoming UFC bout." Kim Couture won the order in a Las Vegas court, banning Beard from "'contacting, intimidating, threatening or otherwise interfering' with her at home or in public." Affliction Inc. produces Randy Couture's clothing line. Kim Couture alledged that an Oct. 17 phone call with her and her lawyer, Sam Spira, "disintegrated into Beard screaming 'that he would 'get' us and otherwise make us regret that we had persisted' in trying to obtain accountings on a T-shirt contract she manages featuring Randy Couture's name and likeness." Beard's attorney, Michael Bassiri, said, "He didn't threaten them. It was only regarding a business relationship" (AP, 11/12).

CHARITY STRIPE: The Grizzlies Tuesday awarded $275,000 worth of grants to 11 Memphis-area nonprofit organizations during the the Grizzlies Charitable Foundation's annual Partners Recognition breakfast at the Church Health Center's Hope & Healing Center (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 11/12)....Vikings RB ADRIAN PETERSON, and his mother BONITA JACKSON, Tuesday weighed-in on a giant soup spoon scale at the Vikings practice facility as part of Campbell's Chunky Soup program to help raise food donations in Minnesota. Fans helped load up the spoon with 384 cans that were donated to Second Harvest Heartland in St. Paul, Minnesota (THE DAILY)....Red Sox DH DAVID ORTIZ Tuesday promoted his new charity golf tournament, the David Ortiz Celebrity Classic to be held from December 4-7 at the Punta Espada Golf Club in the Dominican Republic. The tournament was created to "raise money for the David Ortiz Children's Fund, which helps children in New England and the Dominican Republic who need heart surgery" (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/12)....Mets 3B DAVID WRIGHT last night held his "Do the Wright Thing" gala in Manhattan. Wright's foundation "provides financial support and raises awareness for those in need, with a focus on Multiple Sclerosis and children's causes" (MLB.com, 11/12).

NAMES: U.S. Gold Medal-winning swimmer MICHAEL PHELPS has been named as one of BARBARA WALTERS’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2008.” The hour-long ABC special will air Dec. 4 at 10:00 pm ET (ABC)....Octagon has signed Australian golfer TIM STEWART for representation. Stewart, considered a future star in the sport, will work with agent JEREMY AISENBERG (THE DAILY)....Leverage Sports Agency VP/PR RANDY WALKER has written "ON THIS DAY IN TENNIS HISTORY," a calendar-like compilation of historical and unique anniversaries, events and happenings from the world of tennis through the years. Walker was formerly the USTA's Press Officer (New Chapter Press)....Late SI and New Yorker golf writer HERBERT WARREN WIND Monday was inducted into the World Golf HOF. Golf Channel's RICH LERNER, who emceed the induction ceremony, "recognized Wind as golf's poet laureate" during the ceremony. The GLOBE & MAIL's Lorne Rubenstein wrote for "enthusiasts of golf writing, Wind was the must-read in The New Yorker and Sports Illustrated when he wrote for them." Golf Digest Editor-in-Chief JERRY TARDE during the ceremony said Wind's work is "required reading for anyone who is serious about the game" of golf (GLOBE & MAIL, 11/12).
