Jordan Interested In Purchasing Majority Share Of Bobcats

Jordan More Visible At Bobcats
Games This Season
Bobcats Managing Member of Basketball Operations Michael Jordan Friday said that he “would like to become majority owner" of the Bobcats "when and if [Owner] Bob Johnson decides to sell the team,” according to a front-page piece by Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer. Jordan said “sure, sure,” when asked if he would one day want a majority share. Jordan: “When Bob wants to step aside, I have no problem stepping in and saying, ‘Hey, look, I’d love to take control of this franchise.’ But Bob, he’s not at that point now. He still enjoys owning the basketball team.” Johnson was not available for comment (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 11/8). Jordan gave Fowler an exclusive 30-minute interview on Friday. In the Q&A, Fowler asked Jordan why he is more visible this season, “often sitting right beside the Bobcats’ bench.” Jordan: “I do want people to understand I’m committed to this franchise. I’m committed to Charlotte. I’m invested. I’m putting my money up. They’re not giving me a suite. I’m paying for these things.” When asked if he was happy to see Barack Obama elected, Jordan said he was “very happy,” adding the election result “was the best thing that could have happened to this country” (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 11/8).
