A sports facility: Wrigley Field.

A business decision: Murdoch buying The Wall Street Journal.

A strategy: The Oakland Raiders' motto: "Just Win, Baby."

A hire: The Los Angeles Dodgers hiring JOE TORRE.

A trend: I don't like trends.

An innovation: Strike zone graphics on ESPN.

A pro league or team business initiative: The N.Y. Mets forming SNY and the N.Y. Yankees forming YES.

A decision-maker: HARRY TRUMAN.

A competitor's idea: Strive to be the very best and when you decide to do something, do it to the best of your abilities and finish the job.

An idea or invention I wish I had thought of: Velcro.

A fantasy job: Retirement.

What I like about my job: It keeps me in the game.

Sports: It teaches rules to play by, sportsmanship and competition.

Baseball: There is no clock on this game.

Sports media: Allows me to broadcast baseball games.

Pro sports: Entertainment value.

College sports: Spirit.

Competing: It is what our country is all about.

What I would like to change
: The lowering of the bar in our country.

See different: Prime-time TV programming.

Refresh: Quality TV programming.

Reinvent: The wheel.

Reintroduce: Starting pitchers going nine innings.

Eliminate: The designated hitter.

Continue: Upward mobility.

What I don't like in general: The extreme partisanship in this country.

Pet peeve: Parents who let their kids misbehave in public.

In sports: Hype.

About pro sports: The disconnect between players and fans.

About college sports: Overzealous alumni.

In business: Corporate-ladder climbers.

In sports business: Too much emphasis on money.

About the direction of sports business: Bottom line being profit instead of winning.

In media: 24/7 news cycle.

In sports marketing: Hype.

In sports facilities: Too much music during play with volume too high.

About sports fans: Front-running.

What I like about people: Honesty and character.

That would surprise those who know me: I hate confrontation.

Above all else: Accomplishment.
