USOC CMO RICK BURTON is leaving the organization just one year after he joined it. Both Burton and the USOC declined to comment on the departure before presstime. USOC CEO JIM SCHERR last month said that the organization might make administrative cuts as it structured its ‘09 budget. During Burton's tenure, the USOC renewed sponsorships with Allstate, Anheuser-Busch, 24 Hour Fitness, United Airlines, Nike and Hilton. But the organization failed to sign any new partners for the next quadrennial, which runs from ‘09-12, and it has not completed renewals with The Home Depot, Bank of America or AT&T. Burton is the third employee from the marketing department to leave in the last four months. Former USOC Managing Dir of Marketing Partnerships DECLAN BOGLER and ERIC BAUM, a marketing partnership exec, left the organization during the summer.
