Brooke Knows Best: VW Signs Deals With Wizards, Verizon Center

Volkswagen To Have Significant Presence At
Verizon Center On Signage And In Concourse
The Wizards have signed a four-year deal "to make Volkswagen the team's official automaker," and the company will also become the "exclusive car sponsor of the Verizon Center," according to Tim Lemke of the WASHINGTON TIMES. Volkswagen will serve as the presenting sponsor "of the entire upper concourse of Verizon Center, and will be entitled to special courtside signage and advertising on the arenas ribbon boards and hanging scoreboard." Volkswagen "will also have six cars" on the arena concourses. This is the "second major sports sponsorship for Volkswagen in the D.C. area." Earlier this year, the company became the official car sponsor for MLS DC United, "earning the right to place the company logo on the team's jerseys." Terms of the new deal were not disclosed, but an industry source said that the deal is "likely 'in the seven figures'" (WASHINGTONTIMES.com, 10/28).
