Hitting The Wall? Survey Shows NBA China Games Fell Flat

Public Poll Finds 34% Paid No Attention To
Bucks-Warriors Games Hosted In China
The Bucks-Warriors NBA China Games "were not as successful as expected and did little to expand the NBA's foothold" in the country, according to CHINA DAILY. A public poll conducted by Sina.com found 34% of respondents "paid no attention to the games." Among fans who bought tickets or watched on TV, 26% "described the games as 'boring,' 23[%] bemoaned the lack of Chinese players and only 17[%] commented positively on the experience." In contrast to past China Games, media seats for last Wednesday's Bucks-Warriors game in Guangzhou "were embarrassingly empty," and scalpers "suffered as ticket prices nosedived from [$410 to $73] on the black market" (CHINA DAILY, 10/21).
