NASCAR Announces Camping World
As Title Sponsor Of Truck Series
NASCAR has named Camping World as the new title sponsor of the Truck Series. Camping World, NASCAR's official RV and outdoors retail partner, will replace Craftsman on the entitlement in '09. Craftsman had held that position since the series was formed in '95 (Michael Smith, SportsBusiness Journal).

REBEL YELL: In Las Vegas, Danielle Nadler reported Reno, Nevada, resident Gerald Willis, who composed the UNLV fight song "Win With the Rebels," has filed a lawsuit against Electronic Arts (EA), "claiming the company used the song without permission in 10 of its video games." Willis filed the suit against EA in U.S. District Court in Nevada on September 29 "requesting up to $150,000 for each copyright violation." The song can be heard in various versions of EA's college football, basketball and baseball franchises. UNLV itself "is not named in the lawsuit" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW- JOURNAL, 10/21).

SHOE NEWS: SPORTINGNEWS.com's Rich Lopez reported Reebok endorsers Nuggets G Allen Iverson, Rockets C Yao Ming and Celtics G Rajon Rondo will begin the '08-09 NBA season wearing the Reebok Omni Hexride, a "lightweight breathable sneaker that features Reebok's Hexalite technology in the sole." Each sneaker "features the colorway of each star's respective uniform and their logo on the ankle" (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 10/22)....In DC, Dan Steinberg wrote of adidas' new campaign that features films from top NBA endorsers, specifically one including Wizards G Gilbert Arenas, "I have no idea how much of this is real and how much is staged, but it's definitely DC." The films depict the players working with children from both the U.S. and China (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 10/22).

REMOTE ACCESS: REUTERS' Alan Baldwin reported U.K.-based artist Ian Cook has driven remote-controlled cars "around an 8x12 metre spread this week to create a giant portrait" of F1 driver Lewis Hamilton. The picture, "commissioned by Hamilton's sponsors Reebok, will go on open display in the shadow of London's Tower Bridge" from next Wednesday through November 2, the date of the F1 season-finale Brazilian Grand Prix. Reebok said that the picture "could cover a three-storey building" (REUTERS, 10/22).
