LET'S MAKE A DEAL: In Toronto, Doug Smith reports the first of TSN2's 25 Raptors broadcasts during the '08-09 NBA season will be November 16 against the Heat, giving TSN and Rogers "less than a month to settle their differences and make the secondary all-sports network available in the market." Broadcast sources said that talks between the MSO and TSN "are ongoing but no resolution is imminent" (TORONTO STAR, 10/23). In Toronto, Mike Ganter notes industry insiders "are saying it's only a matter of time before TSN2 is added to the Rogers cable package," as the "prevailing thought is that consumer outrage alone will see that this gets done in the very near future" (TORONTO SUN, 10/23).

HOOPS HYPE: In Jacksonville, Robert McGinty reviewed 2K Sports' "NBA 2K9" and wrote it is the best of the NBA videogame offerings, which include EA Sports' "NBA Live 09" and Sony's "NBA '09: The Inside." The controls with "NBA 2K9" "just feel better, the players move and pass smoother, and there are fewer frustrating moments" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 10/22)....Fox Sports South and SportSouth will televise 24 Hawks games in HD during the '08-09 NBA season, while Fox Sports Carolinas and SportSouth will televise 16 Bobcats games in HD (THE DAILY).
