Take Two: Sarah Palin Set To Drop Puck Before Kings-Blues Game

Palin Will Drop Ceremonial First Puck At
Kings-Blues Game At Scottrade Center
Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin tomorrow night will drop the ceremonial first puck prior to the Kings-Blues game at the Scottrade Center (Blues). In L.A., Helene Elliott wrote the invitation for Palin "comes as no surprise," because Blues Owner Dave Checketts in May donated money to Republican Presidential candidate John McCain's campaign. Palin on October 11 dropped the ceremonial first puck before the Rangers-Flyers game at the Wachovia Center, and Elliott wrote the "only campaigning on NHL ice should be for the MVP." It is "time to keep pucks separate from politics, no matter which way you lean" (LATIMES.com, 10/22). YAHOO SPORTS' Greg Wyshynski wrote, "Whoever made this decision should be ashamed. ... We're there to see a hockey game, not to be decorations at a political rally" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 10/22). ST. LOUIS GAME TIME's Brad Lee wrote, "Those of us who throw ourselves at hockey don’t want to be bothered by stuff like this. We escape the election by going to a hockey game. This is kind of the opposite of that. Just because she drops a puck doesn’t mean I’m going to vote for her. ... Politics aside, we'd rather see Tina Fey" (STLOUISGAMETIME.com, 10/22). In St. Louis, Jo Mannies reports Democratic supporters plan to be outside the Scottrade Center "handing out shopping guides for Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, in a jab at the national GOP's $150,000 tab to clothe Palin and her family" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 10/23).
