Media Notes

VENTUREBEAT's Mg Siegler reported ESPN for the iPhone "has teamed up with game developer EpicTilt to launch ESPN Cameraman," a version of the bar game Cameraman, in which players see "two versions of the same picture side-by-side and you point the differences on a touchscreen monitor." ESPN Cameraman features "photos from the Olympics, the NFL, [MLB], college football, soccer, and a bunch of other sports," and also "features ESPN music." However, Siegler noted "one minor issue is that because the screen on the iPhone is much smaller than it would be on a monitor at a bar, sometimes it's hard to see very small details" (VENTUREBEAT.com, 10/15).

German Telecasters Out Of Tour De
France Due To Positive Drug Test Spat
FINAL RIDE: DAILY VARIETY's Ed Meza reports German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF "will no longer carry live broadcasts of the Tour de France after a number of cyclists from this year's events tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs." ARD and ZDF had cancelled their Tour de France coverage in '07 "in mid-stride in the wake of widespread doing revelations but returned to cover the Tour this summer." Cases involving cyclists testing positive "have damaged the already battered reputation of cycling in Germany, where sponsors have pulled out of the sport and interest among TV auds has waned dramatically" (DAILY VARIETY, 10/17).

NOTES: In Baltimore, Ray Frager writes it is "not fair to judge Versus' Sports Soup on only its debut show, but I wasn't feeling most of the hilarity heard in the background to accompany the clips and host Matt Iseman's commentary." Frager: "Let's give it time" (Baltimore SUN, 10/17)....The NHRA has hired Illinois-based Web site developer AmericanEagle.com to complete a full renovation of NHRA.com (NHRA).
