Camping World Will Continue To Sponsor
Kevin Harvick Inc.'s Truck Series Entry In '09 |
Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Owner Kevin Harvick said that Camping World, which is "negotiating to become the new title sponsor" of NASCAR's truck series, will "continue [as] the primary sponsor" of KHI's No. 33 truck series entry driven by Ron Hornaday Jr. in '09, according to Terry Blount of ESPN.com. Harvick: "We have a contract with them through next year, so that won't change." NASCAR Managing Dir of Corporate Communications Ramsey Poston said that Camping World "can continue to sponsor Harvick's truck if the company becomes the title sponsor of the series." Poston: "We don't want to do anything that would impact team sponsorship. But we want to emphasize there is no deal. Camping World is one of several companies that are very interested in the truck series." Harvick did say should Camping World gain entitlement to the truck series, it would not return as a sponsor for KHI's No. 33 Nationwide Series entry. Harvick: "We had them for 14 races [this year], but that would end." Blount noted Camping World also sponsors two regional NASCAR touring series, the Camping World Series East and West, and it is "unknown if the company would continue that program [if it] becomes the title sponsor for the truck series" (ESPN.com, 9/26). Harvick said of Camping World, "I want them to do what is best for them as a sponsor. Understanding where everything comes from and how it works, I think for them, it sounds like they think that is a better avenue." Harvick added, "I don't necessarily think that NASCAR went out and sought Camping World. ... At first glance, you are like 'Wow, what the hell is happening here?' I don't think anyone is stealing a sponsor here, I just think it's something that seems to work good for them" (FOXSPORTS.com, 9/26).
