Sandy Approves Signage For New RSL Stadium
The Sandy (UT) Planning Commission Tuesday "unanimously approved signage" for MLS Real Salt Lake's (RSL) new stadium, although the owner of the stadium's naming rights "will not be announced until next week." Several "bright, red banners bearing the sponsor's name will hang from beige columns around the stadium, and other signs will be displayed on both sides of a massive LED screen on the stadium's north end" (DESERET NEWS, 9/26).

OPEN FOR BUSINESS: In Ft. Worth, Sandra Baker reports the MLB Rangers by the end of '08 "plan to open a store in Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth where fans can buy merchandise and game tickets." The team "will be placing eight employees in a nearby ... business and marketing office to reach out to potential business clients in the Fort Worth area." The opening of the store and office "comes at a time when ticket sales are down for" the team. This season, on average, there were "about 5,400 fewer people attending home games" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 9/26).

CLOCK MANAGEMENT: In Columbus, Bob Hunter writes, "With no agreement in place for a new training facility, the [MLS] Crew may soon have to make contingency plans at the 5,000-square-foot Obetz [Ohio] facility that officials have said the team has outgrown." The plan was "to be in a new complex at the start of the 2010 season, but the clock is ticking on that timeline" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 9/26).
