USA TODAY's Michael Hiestand profiles Fox' Jay Glazer and writes he has been "on a roll breaking NFL stories," from Jets QB Brett Favre joining the team to the Lions parting ways with President & CEO Matt Millen. Glazer also "broke the news that Fox colleague Michael Strahan wouldn't return" to the Giants this season. Glazer said that he "confirms stories with three sources." He "sleeps with his cellphone plugged in his ear ... and 'friends and girlfriends understand it's my constant lifeline'" (USA TODAY, 9/26).

MOVING FORWARD: In Pittsburgh, Bob Smizik reports former ESPN Radio 1250 Pittsburgh host Mark Madden, who in May was fired after making insensitive comments about U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), will be "released from his contract with ESPN at the end of this month and begin a new show in early October" on Clear Channel's WXDX-FM. Madden likely will return to the air on October 6, tentatively in the 3:00-7:00pm ET slot (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 9/26)....BOSTON SPORTS MEDIA WATCH's David Scott reported Providence Journal baseball writer Sean McAdam is set to become a baseball columnist for the Boston Herald. A memo confirming McAdam's departure was sent to Journal staffers Thursday. A source confirmed that McAdam "will be on the Herald staff, possibly as soon as the start of the playoffs" (BOSTONSPORTSMEDIA.com, 9/25).

OVER THE AIR: Pro Football HOFer John Riggins will host "The Sirius Blitz" on Sirius XM Radio on Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00am-1:00pm ET on Sirius NFL Radio channel 124 (Sirius XM)....In L.A., Tom Hoffarth notes KLAC-AM's Joe McDonnell's contract was "not renewed" this week, and McDonnell "could be the best candidate to head back" to KSPN-AM and take over the drive-time slot (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 9/26)....Astros radio announcer Dave Raymond and Astros TV announcer Jim Deshaies will host a show on KBME-AM from 10:00-11:00am CT on Wednesdays. The show is tentatively titled, "J.D. and Dave's Excellent Off-Season Adventure" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/26).

NOTES: NESN has inked Bruins play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards and analyst Andy Brickley to multi-year contract extensions. Edwards and Brickley will be joined by reporter Naoko Funayama, who this summer signed a multi-year contract to serve as a full-time reporter for the net (NESN)....Former Islanders VP/Media Relations Chris Botta has launched www.islanderspointblank.com, which "on one hand is an independent outlet owned by Botta, but on the other is sponsored by the team and linked to from its Web site." Botta: "There are conflicts of interest all over the place. ... Let everybody judge it for what it is" (NEWSDAY, 9/26).
