City Of Arlington Has Reached Its $325M
Spending Limit For New Cowboys Stadium |
The city of Arlington this month "reached its $325[M] limit" on the new $1.1B Cowboys stadium, and the "remainder of the bills incurred for the stadium will be paid" by the Cowboys, according to Andrea Ahles of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck: "It is another step in the completion of the project. Now they just have to go ahead and complete it." As of September 18, Arlington had "paid out $318,999,999.52 on the stadium project," and the remaining $6,000,000.48 has been "put in a retainer account so the city can pay any settlements or judgments that result from pending lawsuits related to land acquisition for the project" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 9/26).
MOVING FORWARD: The Cowboys already have given season-ticket holders the "first crack at seats at the new stadium," and Cowboys Dir of Corporate Communications Brett Daniels said that by "early October, the rest of the seats would be up for grabs." Meanwhile, in Dallas, Jeff Mosier reports workers at the stadium between Monday and Wednesday "installed 12 of the 128 motors that will operate the retractable roof." Also, the stadium "has its first non-sports event booked," as the FBI National Academy Association is "holding a conference in July 2012 in Arlington and will have its opening night reception at one of the stadium's clubs" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/26).
