Rich Battista Named Fox National Cable Networks President

Name Rich Battista President
Fox National Cable Networks has hired Rich Battista as President, where he will oversee the company’s cable networks including Fuel, Speed, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox College Sports, Fox Sports en Español and the Big Ten Network (BTN). Battista will report to Chair & CEO Tony Vinciquerra. Battista has reported to Vinciquerra previously, while Exec VP/Business Development & Strategy for Fox Entertainment Group. He left that job to join Gemstar-TV Guide as CEO from '04-08. He left that post in May, when the company was sold to Macrovision. Battista’s direct reports will include Speed’s Hunter Nickell, Fox Soccer Channel’s David Sternberg, Fox Sports en Espanol’s Raul de Quesada, BTN’s Mark Silverman and Fox Ad Sales’ Lou LaTorre. Battista will not oversee Fox’ RSNs, which will continue to report to RANDY FREER, or its affiliate sales and marketing group, which will continue to report to Mike Hopkins. Both Freer and Hopkins will continue reporting to Vinciquerra. Bob Thompson will continue overseeing day-to-day operations of Fox’ national sports networks until the middle of next year, when he will transition into a consultancy role.
