The Canadiens next season will celebrate their 100th anniversary, and a new movie titled "POUR TOUJOURS, LES CANADIENS," which translates to "The Canadiens Forever," has "begun filming in earnest and will include" current and former Canadiens players. The movie, set for a December 4, 2009, release, features a "17-year-old college player and a 10-year-old boy who is waiting for a kidney transplant." The history of the team "will be evoked in a number of different ways, including through the teenager's father, a filmmaker who is preparing a documentary on the Canadiens' 100th anniversary to the detriment of his neglected family." Canadiens G CAREY PRICE and C SAKU KOIVU and Hockey HOFer JEAN BELIVEAU will appear in the movie as themselves (CP, 9/16). 

Donovan Has Yet To Sign
Extension Announced Last June
WHAT'S THE DEAL? Univ. of Florida (UF) men's basketball coach BILLY DONOVAN "still hasn't signed his six-year, $21[M] contract extension" that was announced in June '07. UF AD JEREMY FOLEY yesterday said the school and Donovan are "very close" to an agreement. UF Basketball SID FRED DEMAREST said that Donovan last season was paid $3.5M "based on the extension the coach has not yet signed" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 9/17).

NAMES: Fox has extended its relationship with comedian JEFF FOXWORTHY, "greenlighting an animated pilot presentation from Foxworthy about a dysfunctional family set in the world of NASCAR" (DAILY VARIETY, 9/16)....T'Wolves F AL JEFFERSON has donated $25,000 to the Miami Dade College (FL) Foundation to establish a scholarship at the school in honor of his late father (MIAMI HERALD, 9/17)....Former U.S. women's soccer D BRANDI CHASTAIN and former U.S. Olympic Gold Medal-winning gymnast KERRI STRUG will run in November's ING N.Y. Marathon as ambassadors for ING Run for Something Better, a national program that promotes youth fitness (ING)....NHLPA Ombudsman ERIC LINDROS yesterday was present at the unveiling of the Lindros Legacy Research building in London, Ontario. Lindros donated C$5M to the London Health Sciences Centre, which is "believed to be the largest one-time charitable donation by a Canadian sports figure" (CP, 9/16)....Chicago-based Premiere Global Sports (PGS) was ranked No. 6 in Special Events Magazine's list of the Top 50 Event Companies of '08 (PGS).
