| Beasley In Market For New Agent? |
Heat F MICHAEL BEASLEY yesterday confirmed that he "has had disagreements with" agent JOEL BELL, but Beasley "denied reports that he has reached out to other agents," according to Michael Wallace of the MIAMI HERALD. Beasley's live-in personal assistant BRUCE SHINGLER said, "There have been some differences over terms, and things haven't all worked out like we thought. But that stuff out there is not true. It's a lot of rumors." Shingler "would not say if Beasley had notified the NBA of any [intentions] to switch agents," and league rules "require players to wait 15 days before signing with another agent" (MIAMI HERALD, 9/15). YAHOO SPORTS' Adrian Wojnarowski reported "when reached by text message Saturday, agent Joel Bell didn't deny that Beasley ... had fired him." Sources said that Beasley "wanted bigger and better endorsement deals than Bell delivered him." Wojnarowski noted that "several top agents -- including AARON GOODWIN and ANDY MILLER -- are trying to fill the vacuum left behind by Bell and Beasley's adviser CURTIS MALONE." Goodwin "has the advantage of representing a childhood friend of Beasley," Thunder F KEVIN DURANT. Sources also "believe the relationship between the two players' mothers will sway Beasley to Goodwin" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 9/13).
