In this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, Terry Lefton reports PepsiCo promoted Pepsi VP/Sports Media & Interactive Marketing RALPH SANTANA to VP/Colas, North America, as "part of an overall marketing reorganization." Sources said that "further executive changes are expected within the marketing ranks, including naming" Santana's replacement for the position which he had held since '06 (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/15 issue).
EXECS: Nike has promoted Nike Golf U.S. GM CINDY DAVIS to President, succeeding BOB WOOD, who will assume additional responsibilities within the Nike brand (Nike)....Former Alpine Canada CEO KEN READ, who resigned in July, has accepted the position as Alpine Alberta President. Read reportedly left Alpine Canada "to eliminate any conflicts," as his son, ERIK, is a skier on the national team. Alpine Alberta does "not have a policy that precludes a parent of provincial team skiers from holding an office" (GLOBE & MAIL, 9/13)....MLB sources indicated that the Red Sox "have not renewed the contracts" of scouts MARC DELPIANO, JOHN SANDERS and JESSE LEVIS. The Red Sox are "reorganizing their professional scouting and are eliminating DelPiano's job." DelPiano was named in the Mitchell Report (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/15).
