TBS Launches New MLB Playoff Effort Featuring Players, Bon Jovi

Watch The Clip
TBS this weekend is debuting a new ad effort around the MLB playoffs featuring Bon Jovi and some MLBers whose teams are in playoff contention. TBS from Friday through October 2 will show a 2:30 version of the new promo on more than 11,500 movie screens during National CineMedia's pre-show in various movie theaters across the country, while 15-, 30- and 60-second commercials will debut on TBS beginning Monday. The new spot features footage of Bon Jovi performing "I Love This Town" at a concert in N.Y.'s Central Park ahead of this summer's MLB All-Star Game, and includes players from the Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, Angels, Brewers, Dodgers, Rays, D'Backs and Yankees. As part of its campaign to promote its coverage of the Division Series and the ALCS, TBS is also launching an outdoor marketing effort in several major markets that includes two billboards in Times Square featuring Red Sox P Josh Beckett, Angels RF Vladimir Guerreo, Phillies 1B Ryan Howard and Cubs P Carlos Zambrano (Turner). TV WEEK's Chris Pursell reported TBS will relaunch "TBS Hot Corner" on MLB.com, "offering video streaming from postseason match-ups and reports and updates from TBS on-air announcers." Turner Sports Senior VP/Marketing & Programming Jenny Storms: "One of our biggest objectives is continuing to build awareness of the postseason on TBS. We want sports fans to know where to find these games" (TV WEEK, 9/8 issue).
