Jets Debut $75M Atlantic Health Training Center In New Jersey

Jets Unveil $75M Atlantic Health Jets Training
Center Six Months Ahead Of Schedule
The Jets yesterday unveiled their new HQs, the $75M Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, "six months ahead of schedule, and just in time for football season," according to Leslie Kwoh of the Newark STAR-LEDGER. The two-story "white geometric glass-and-metal structure has soaring atrium entrances, floor-to-ceiling glass windows with panoramic views of four of the five practice fields, a 161-seat auditorium, two cafeterias, a weight room the size of one-fifth of a football field and more than 100 flat-screen televisions." The new facility was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, "the architecture firm best known for its work on the Freedom Tower" in N.Y. Jets officials said that "about 150 employees and players will be housed at the facility when business employees complete their move in October" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 9/3). On Long Island, Erik Boland notes the facility "gives the Jets almost twice the space they had at [Hofstra Univ.], their home for the past 40 years." The new facility was "built on a 27-acre property in Florham Park, N.J., and the reviews from the players, after just one day, were unrelentingly positive" (NEWSDAY, 9/3). Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said that the Jets "used the new facility to recruit all their free agents with the helicopter ride they gave [LB] Calvin Pace to the PowerPoint presentations they e-mailed to others." The Jets will have their first practice at the new facility today (N.Y. TIMES, 9/3).
