ANIMAL PLANET: Suspended Falcons QB Michael Vick helped Animal Planet to its best numbers for a series debut on the net, when "Animal Witness: The Michael Vick Case" earned a 0.8 rating (808,000 HHs) and 1.1 million viewers on Sunday. The episode included interviews with the officers who broke the case and reports on the dogs that were recovered and saved. Animal Planet's previous high for a series debut was from January '07, when it ran Steve Irwin specials "Ocean's Deadliest" and "Crikey! What an Adventure" (John Ourand, THE DAILY).
NOTES: NBC drew a 2.0 final rating for its live coverage Sunday of the AST Dew Tour Wendy's Invitational, marking the highest-rated Dew Tour broadcast in its four-year history. The event also ranked as the highest-rated daytime action sports broadcast in history. The broadcast followed NBC's final competition telecast from the Beijing Games (THE DAILY)....NBC Saturday for its 11:30pm-1:30am PT coverage of the U.S.-Spain Olympic men's basketball final drew a 13.3/39 rating in L.A., the home market of Lakers and U.S. G Kobe Bryant and Lakers and Spain F Pao Gasol. The net earned a 9.6/34 in the S.F./Oakland/San Jose market for the game (THE DAILY)....CSN Philadelphia earned a 9.1 HH rating (271,000 HHs) for its Wednesday night coverage of Mets-Phillies, making it the most-watched program in the Philadelphia market for the night and the second-most watched Phillies game on the net this season. The rating marked a 72% increase over the 5.3 HH season average for Phillies games on CSN Philadelphia (CSN).
