Baltimore Tops U.S. Metered Markets For Beijing Closing Ceremony

Michael Phelps' hometown of Baltimore topped all U.S. metered markets (MMs) for NBC's Sunday coverage of the Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony. The 22.6 MM rating for Baltimore was up 94.8% from the Athens Olympics Closing Ceremony in '04, marking the biggest increase among U.S. MMs. Seven of the 56 MMs saw declines in the Closing Ceremony, including Chicago, which is bidding to host the 2016 Summer Games. Despite the Bills-Colts game on Sunday night, Buffalo saw a 41.8% increase in ratings for the Closing Ceremony, while Indianapolis was off 3.0%. The following lists MM ratings for NBC's telecast of the Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony (THE DAILY).
