Receive Lifetime Achievement Award From HOF
The Basketball HOF will award USA Basketball President and former WNBA President VAL ACKERMAN with the '08 John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award. The honor will be presented during HOF enshrinement festivities September 4-6 (NBA)....The Univ. of North Dakota will award an Honorary Doctorate of Letters to Lakers coach and alumnus PHIL JACKSON Monday during a convocation on the school's campus (Lakers)....MLB Giants officials Sunday will be presented with the '08 Steve Patterson Award for Excellence in Sports Philanthropy. The Giants, who have operated a Community Fund since '91, have donated more than $9.5M to various community efforts and programs (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/20)....Court documents filed this week show that suspended Falcons QB MICHAEL VICK while in jail has average monthly expenses of $12,225 and a monthly income of just $277.69, a deficit of $11,947.31.
