Media Notes

Former NFLer Warren Sapp will join host James Brown and analysts Phil Simms and Cris Collinsworth on "Inside The NFL," which will premiere on Showtime on September 10 (Showtime).  In Orlando, Jerry Greene notes Sapp will be "taking the spot that Dan Marino held last season" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 8/20). In St. Pete, Eric Deggans wrote of Sapp, "I hope his dissection of other players' performances makes more sense than some of the tales he told reporters about his own efforts" (TAMPABAY.com, 8/19).

Fouts To Serve As Analyst For
Several NFL Games On CBS
DAN IN REAL LIFE: USA TODAY's Michael Hiestand reports former ESPN/ABC analyst Dan Fouts this season "will be an analyst on some CBS NFL games with a variety of play-by-play announcers," including Don Criqui, Bill Macatee and Dick Enberg. Fouts also will work some CBS SEC football games (USA TODAY, 8/20).

NEW MEDIA: In New Orleans, Dave Walker reports Atlanta-based Horizon Entertainment "will relocate to New Orleans and operate" out of the WVUE-Fox facility, which Saints Owner Tom Benson purchased in May. Horizon's Web site "lists as 'in production' a documentary about" the AFL New Orleans VooDoo, also owned by Benson. Walker notes Benson's media company, Louisiana Media Co., "has an ownership interest in Horizon, though it's unclear to what extent" (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 8/20).

NOTES: Sprint and the NFL this season will introduce NFL Mobile Live, which offers complete, live access to NFL games. The service is free of charge to Sprint data subscribers and available only to Sprint customers (Sprint)....SI.com starting next week “will be reprinting” Joe Posnanski's blog, and he will “write one column a week” for the site. The column likely “will appear on Wednesdays” (JoePosnanski.com, 8/19).
