Rooney Brothers' Meeting With Goodell Over Ownership Delayed

Steelers Owners the Rooney brothers will meet on August 26 with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss possible ownership changes, "a week later than originally planned," according to Ed Bouchette of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. The four brothers of Steelers Chair Dan Rooney -- Art Jr., Tim, Pat and John -- "asked for the delay so they could prepare for the meeting and possibly meet beforehand with former [NFL Commissioner] Paul Tagliabue, who has tried to facilitate their ownership discussions" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 8/17).
STEEL RESERVE: In Pittsburgh, Bill Toland profiled Pittsburgh-based Duquesne Capital Management Chair Stanley Druckenmiller under the header, "Steelers' Suitor Stanley Druckenmiller Has Always Been Good At Making Money." Toland wrote of Druckenmiller, "He golfs fast. He eats fast. He thinks fast, always a beat ahead, always processing. ... He's prompt. He tries to exercise regularly." The "same words keep popping up when you ask people what they know about Stanley Druckenmiller: Brilliant. Polite. Humble. Family man. Loyal. Private -- almost shy, and occasionally awkward." Toland: "He doesn't like it when people talk about him to the news media, and several people contacted for this story asked if the interview has been OK'd by [Druckenmiller] beforehand" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 8/17).
