SportsBusiness Journal's Eric Fisher reports Fenway Sports Group (FSG) in October “will open a West Coast office in San Diego, the latest indicator of its accelerating pace of growth.” The office will be FSG’s first satellite operation and will be led by former Liquid Investments Inc. VP/Marketing PAT CONNORS (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/18 issue).
GAME OVER: The Championship Gaming Series, the competitive video game league launched by DirecTV and co-owned by the satellite TV operator in partnership with B Sky B and Star, has parted ways with Commissioner Andy Reif. The two-year contract for the former AVP exec was not renewed, and Reif "is leaving the league to pursue other opportunities," according to a CGS statement. Reif will be replaced by Dale Hopkins, former COO for the G4 Network (Fisher).

Founder JAN KATZOFF will become Chair and continue his dual responsibilities as Exec VP of Sports & Entertainment with The Radiate Group (SportsMark)….Velocity Sports & Entertainment (VSE) promoted the following: JESSICA LOSEY to Customer Entertainment Group Manager, SHANNON WIGHINGTON to Consulting Group Associate, BRETT DANAHY to Corporate Alliances Group Associate, TIM BROWN to Consulting Group Associate and STACY BROWN to Customer Entertainment Group Associate (VSE)….Boston Herald columnist TONY MASSAROTTI beginning next month “will become the voice and face of Boston.com sports while also contributing” to the Boston Globe. Meanwhile, AMALIE BENJAMIN will be the new Globe's new Red Sox beat writer, and ADAM KILGORE will assume Benjamin’s former role as a backup reporter for the team (BOSTON GLOBE, 8/16).
