LOCOG Chair Insists London 2012 Schedule Will Not Be Swayed By TV

Coe Says Swimming Finals Will Revert
To Traditional Slot At 2012 Olympics
LOCOG Chair Sebastian Coe Thursday said that the 2012 London Games "will not be dictated to by any broadcaster and the swimming finals will revert to their traditional evening slot," according to Glenda Korporaal of THE AUSTRALIAN. Coe added that he "had already spoken to the president of ... NBC and informed him the timetable for events would be set by [LOCOG]." Coe: "In London we will set the program and that will be it." Coe, however, "conceded London's time zone would be a lot more 'benign' for the east coast of the US than the Beijing Games." Korporaal notes the time difference between London and the East Coast is five hours, "meaning evening finals will screened in the US mid-afternoon" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 8/15).
