Seattle Sports Commission Looking To Get 2010 Seattle Bowl Game

Seattle Sports Commission Looking To Host
College Football Bowl Game At Qwest Field
Seattle Sports Commission (SSC) Exec Dir Ralph Morton said that a proposal for a new college football bowl game in Seattle is "in the beginning stages," according to Bob Condotta of the SEATTLE TIMES. Morton said that the SSC is "putting together a business plan for a new bowl game at Qwest Field that could apply for NCAA certification in 2009 and debut in 2010." Morton on Tuesday "briefed Pac-10 [ADs], who are in town for their regular late-summer meeting, about the proposal." There was a previous Seattle Bowl with a different promoter played at Safeco Field in '01 and Qwest Field in '02 (SEATTLE TIMES, 8/13).

FINAL FRONTIER: The NCAA yesterday named Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, San Antonio and Tampa Bay finalists to host a women’s basketball Final Four from 2012-2016. NCAA reps will visit each city in September or October, and the finalists “will make final pitches to the selection committee” at the NCAA HQs in Indianapolis in early November. The NCAA will announce the five winning cities in mid-November (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 8/14).
