Knight's Financial Stake In Nike
Declined $1.5B Upon Selling Shares |
Nike Friday said that Nike Chair PHIL KNIGHT's financial stake in the company "declined by nearly $1.5[B] over the past year as [Knight] unloaded 18 million shares of its stock." The company also said that Nike President & CEO MARK PARKER's and Nike Brand President CHARLIE DENSON's earnings "jumped by at least one-third, thanks largely to bonuses tied to pre-tax profits." As of July 14, Knight's shares totaled 91.9 million and were worth $5.13B, compared to 109.9 million shares worth $6.46B at the close of trading July 16, 2007 (Portland OREGONIAN, 8/9).
GREEN GAZE: NFL player agent MIKE SULLIVAN Friday confirmed that he was fired by Packers QB AARON RODGERS, saying he received a termination letter Thursday. “Aaron has decided to go in a different direction as far as an agent,” said Sullivan, Managing Dir of Octagon Football. “While I am disappointed with his decision, I wish him the best" (Liz Mullen, SportsBusiness Journal). ESPN's John Clayton said Rodgers "is very likely" going to hire either CAA's TOM CONDON or Athletes First's DAVID DUNN, or "hire an agent that at least is going to get him a lot of money." Clayton: "If he can do well, he's going to be a very rich player" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 8/8).
NOTES: Sources said that the Super Bowl XLIII halftime show February 1 in Tampa will feature BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & the E Street Band (N.Y. POST, 8/11)....Univ. of Florida QB TIM TEBOW will be on the cover of the September issue of Men's Fitness. The magazine "will include a profile of [Tebow], photos of Tebow working out and commentary from teammates and coaches" (SPORTING NEWS TODAY, 8/11)....The N.Y. TIMES' HARRY HURT took Reebok's Hex Ride Rally shoes "on a test run" for Reebok's Human Performance Engineering Laboratory.
