| Koch To Sell Comets After Less Than Two Years |
WNBA Comets Owner & CEO Hilton Koch "is putting the WNBA franchise up for sale less than two years after he bought it," according to Jenny Dial of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. WNBA President Donna Orender said that the league "is going to do everything in its power to keep the Comets in Houston." Orender: "They are really a part of that city now, and we want to see them remain there." Orender said that Koch "recently contacted the WNBA about wanting to sell the team," and added that Koch "did not give specific reasons but has been involved in meetings and has plans to help with the process." Koch bought the Comets in '07 when the franchise "was splitting from the Rockets organization and restructuring completely" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 8/10).
