Facility Notes
The Nets and the NJSEA Thursday announced that Vonage "will pay more than $1[M] to put its name on the concourse of the Izod Center." The Nets said the four-year deal gives Vonage "naming rights to the concourse and signs along Routes 3 and 120." Vonage spokesperson Charles Sahner said the deal is "more economical" than Vonage's sponsorship of the Nets, which recently came to an end (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 8/8).
EXPANSION PLANS: In Louisville, Gregory Hall reports Keeneland Race Course (KRC) has hired HOK Sport to "develop a master plan that could allow the Lexington track to play host to the Breeders' Cup World Championships." KRC Dir of Communications Jim Williams said that there is "no timetable for expansion, but it is expected to occur." Williams: "There's an obvious need for enhancing and improving our facilities and undoubtedly expand them" (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 8/8).
NOTES: Oklahoma City has approved the renewal of their agreement with SMG to continue managing the Ford Center. SMG has been operating Ford Center facilities since '99 (SMG)....In S.F., Jonathan Curiel reports the 49ers' stadium sign reads, "Monster Park," while the freeway signs along Highway 101 reads, "Candlestick Park." The stadium’s naming-rights deal with Monster expired in June (S.F. CHRONICLE, 8/8).
